Woody Harrelson claims he mistook photographer for zombie!

(CNN) -- Woody Harrelson defended his clash with a photographer at a New York airport Wednesday night as a case of mistaken identity -- he says he mistook the cameraman for a zombie.

Woody Harrelson says he got into a clash with a photographer because he mistook him for a zombie.

The TMZ photographer filed a complaint with police claiming the actor damaged his camera and pushed him in the face at La Guardia Airport, according to an airport spokesman.

"We're looking into this allegation and if it's warranted, we'll turn it over to the proper authorities," said Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Ron Marsico.

The photographer, who was not identified, captured the encounter on a small camera after his larger one was broken.

Harrelson, who is being sued by another TMZ photographer for an alleged assault in 2006, did not deny his involvement.

"I wrapped a movie called 'Zombieland,' in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character," Harrelson said in a statement issued Friday by his publicist.

"With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo, who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie," he said.

TMZ.com posted two videos of the incident, including one recorded by the larger camera before it was damaged.

The first video shows the photographer following Harrelson and his daughter down an escalator and out of the terminal. It ends with Harrelson apparently reaching for the lens.

The second video begins with the photographer accusing Harrelson of breaking his camera.

After Harrelson returns the camera to him, a scuffle appears to ensue.

"Woody, this is assault. Woody, this is assault," the photographer is heard saying. "Woody, chill out. Would you please chill out?"

The photographer continues to follow Harrelson for another four minutes as the actor and his daughter walk to the airport parking lot. At one point, Harrelson again turns toward the cameraman.

"I'm being chased by Woody Harrelson while I'm talking to you," the photographer says as he talks to an unidentified person on a cell phone.

"He hit me in my face, he broke my friggin' camera, he broke the camera in pieces," he said.

Harrelson, his daughter and a driver get inside an SUV and the encounter ends.

In the movie "Zombieland," Harrelson plays "the most frightened person on Earth" looking for refuge from zombies, according to the Internet Movie Database

Filming on the movie wrapped in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday, according to director Ruben Fleischer's Web site.

TMZ photographer Josh Levine filed a lawsuit against Harrelson last year for an alleged attack outside a Hollywood nightclub in 2006.

Video of that incident, which is also posted on TMZ.com, also appeared to show Harrelson grabbing a camera and clashing with the photographer.

Los Angeles prosecutors declined to press charges against the actor, but Levine filed a suit last summer asking for $2.5 million in damages.

"Woody Harrelson has a history of anger management issues with people and we intend to put a stop to this," Cyrus Nownejad, Levine's lawyer, said Friday.

…OF THE DEAD.

Plot synopsis:

On a small island off North America’s coast, the dead rise to menace the living. Yet…the islanders can’t bring themselves to exterminate their loved ones, despite the growing danger from those the once held dear.

A rebel among them hunts down all the zombies he can find, only to be banished from the island for assassinating his neighbors and friends. On the mainland, bent on revenge, he encounters a small band of survivors in search of an oasis on which to build a new life. Barely surviving an attack from a mass of ravenous flesh-eaters, they commandeer a zombie-infested ferry and sail to the island.

There, to their horror, they discover that the locals have chained the dead inside their homes, pretending to live ‘normal’ lives…with bloody consequences. What ensues is a desperate struggle for survival and the answer to a question never posed in Romero’s Dead films: Can the living ever live in peace with the dead?

Hello,

Way back in mid February of this year I got to meet Max Brookes. The author of The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z. If you're a zombie fan and have NOT read these books, Shame on you! They are without a doubt two of the greatest books ever written on the subject of the undead. The Zombie Survival Guide published in 2003, is a fictional survival manual that deals with the potentiality of an undead attack. Brooks lays out detailed plans for the average citizen to survive zombie uprisings of varying intensity. World War Z charts the war against the undead from global pandemic to mass panic, and then to the eventual armed struggle to reclaim the planet. Rather than a grand overview or a single perspective, it is instead a collection of individual accounts, each revealing an aspect of the larger plot and simultaneously presenting a very personal tale. These different accounts take the form of interviews.
The book is being adapted into a film by Brad Pitts company. I told Max that he was one of the people who inspired me to create My Living Dead Girl and gave him GAK buttons, a Courtney button and some other cool stuff from the My Living Dead Girl Shop!. He quietly said "Thanks." He loved the postcard of Courtney attacking a fellow student on the bus and told me he would check out the web site and then signed my books. See below...

Hello All,

A number of people have asked me to post some pictures of my studio where I work on the strip. Well here you are. Yes, that's my DVD collection on the wall. Yes, that's a lot of DVDs. I like movies. To my left I have my "Sinister Six" Bowen bust collection. On the desk Galactus and The Big Guy are also on hand to help me out. On the wall, an original drawing by Ub Iwerks from the 1929 Silly Symphonies cartoon "The Skeleton Dance". Also a Guy Davis drawing of Abe Sapien from "Hellboy". On top of the cabinet my "Hellboy" statue collection. Lastly, I work on my little I-Mac, that's about 6 years old. I had to buy a back up external drive recently to hold all the art work I've been doing.

You can never do any work in the studio, unless you have a cat on your lap. Murphy needs a lot of attention now that Hugo is around.

Speaking of Mr.Hugo (My NEW Boss) here he is looking over the final strip this week. He's a real hard ass when it comes to spelling and graphic content. I miss spelled "WHHHAAAGH?" Ok. More vomit? Whatever you says Boss. Well, there it is.

Hello Gak-e-teers!

It's been 11 weeks since I stopped working on My Living Dead Girl
to enjoy fatherhood. Dena and I had our first son, Hugo Abraham McDonald, on Jan 3rd and we could not be happier. Being a new parent is truly amazing. Our thanks go to all who wrote in giving their best wishes and to all the family and friends who helped us give Mr. Hugo a great start.

I also want to apologize to all the fans for not getting things starting sooner, but having a newborn is really, really time consuming. I thought "Hey, I can do comicstrip work at night when the little Hugo's asleep. Right?" WRONG! Hugo has been a lot of work. He has acid reflux and sleeping and eating have been very hard on him. But some time has passed and he's doing much, much better and now I can start moving some of my spare time back to doing the strip again.

So. . . starting March 30th My Living Dead Girl will return! No more delays. No Bull#@%! This will happen! Hugo has given me a lot of new material to use for the strip and I hope your ready for more!

Hello My Living Dead Girl Fans,

The End of MY LIVING DEAD GIRL you say? No, no not "THE END". This weeks special episode of A NEW LIFE is going to be the last episode you'll see for 7 weeks. The strip is going on hiatus.

Well, my wife and I have had our 1st child ( HUGO ) on January 3rd and I want to spend some time being a father. Diaper changes, 3am feedings and drool! It will be a blast! There will be All NEW strips starting on Friday March 3rd. Please be diligent GAK-A-TEERS and take the time to look over some of the older strips. I've made some small changes to ALL of them. NO! I didn't go crazy on them like George Lucas did to the original Star Wars films. I just did little stuff, like backgrounds and lighting. Gave them more of a darker feeling. I think the strips looks better and are now constant. Tell me what you think.

Hey There My Living Dead Girl Fans.! I've been working REALLY hard on upcoming episode 5: 3RD PERIOD OF THE DAMNED and episode 6: AFTER SCHOOL BLOODBATH. I thought I'd share with you some things that are coming up. Episodes 5 and 6 deal with Courtney at her school, called RESURRECTION ACADEMY so I've been designing LOTS of school kids, classrooms and playgrounds. A very large task to draw 20 to 30 Boys and Girls and make them all different from each other. I'm cheating on a few. Changing heads and bodies. Also backgrounds are killing me, but I won't have to draw them again in the future when we come back to a school story line. Anyway enjoy and keep writing me with remarks about the strip. I just saw The Amazing Screw-On Head at the Sci-fi channels website. It's based on HELLBOY creator Mike Mignola's comic The Amazing Screw-on Head. Paul Giamatti is the voice of our hero "Screw-on Head" and Davd Hyde Pierce is the voice of the villainous "Emperor Zombie". Great stuff. It looks like Mignola's work come to life. I won a cool autographed photo of The Ultimate Living Dead Girl herself, Kyra Schon on Ebay this week! She played Karen Cooper in Night of the Living Dead. She's the little girl who is bitten by a zombie, dies, raises again as an undead and attacks her mother with a garden trowel in the cellar. The most famous scene in the movie! I found her website The Ghoul Next Door and thought you might enjoy. Now I have to get a frame for this baby and put it up.

Here's my top 5 zombie films of all time.

#5 - RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (1985)

Originally intended as a sequel to Night of the Living Dead Director Dan O'Bannon decided not to and do a new take on the undead. O'Bannon who was the writer for the film ALIEN creates a great horror/comedy story about a guy named Freddy on his first day at work in an army surplus store. He unwittingly releases a gas from an old secret U.S military canister. Causing the dead to raise and it also has a strange side effect on poor Freddy and his co worker. This film is a lot of fun. A great story about an accident that goes from bad, to worst, to horrible. You'll laugh out loud. Great to watch with friends late at night.

Best Line:

"Send more cops."

#4 - DAY OF THE DEAD (1985)

This is the 3rd film in the George A. Romero Dead trilogy. At first it just seems like rehashed stuff from the last film. People hiding in a military base instead of the mall, but the story takes on a new dimension when Dr. M. Logan ( Played wonderfully by Richard Liberty ) an insane Doctor who experiments on the dead. He wants to see if they can communicate and learn, even be tamed. Great performance by Sherman Howard plays Bud. A zombie who is part of Dr. Logan's experiments. He's one of the best characters in all of zombie film history. Sure you've got "Big Daddy" from LAND OF THE DEAD, but BUD was here first. A special nod to Tom Savini for some of the goriest effects make up ever on film. GAK!

Best Line:

"I hope you choke on them!"

#3 - DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978)

George A. Romero's 1978 Classic! Survivors trapped in a shopping mall as the zombie hordes mass outside, wanting to feed on the living inside and maybe do a little shopping. Great commentary by Romero on the consumers in us all. Great performances by Gaylen Ross, David Emge, Ken Foree and Scott H. Reinger. With a special cameo by the great Tom Savini as a leader of a biker gang. The Sound track by Gonk is brilliant.

Best Line:

"The people it kills, get up and kill!"

#2 - SHAUN OF THE DEAD (2004)

One of the best films of 2004. A romantic comedy with zombies. The story about a guy named Shaun (Simon Pegg) who trying to fix his relationship with his girlfriend and deal with his slob of a friend (Nick Frost) as the world being is taking over by zombies. Funny and original. Horror and comedy are a great mix. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright wrote a really tight script. George A. Romeros loved the film so much he gave Simon and Edgar comeo's in LAND OF THE DEAD.

Best Line:

"You've got red on you."

#1 - NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968)

The Best for last. George A. Romero's Masterpiece. It was ground breaking in story, shooting and budget. Romero was inspired by Richard Matheson's book "I Am Legend" But instead of one person alone fighting against vampires, he made it a group fighting the undead. Tension raises as they begin fighting each other. A fantastic look at social breakdown under pressure. Watch it late at night by yourself, it will scare the hell out of you. GAK!

Best Line:

"They're coming to get you Barbara."

My top 10 favorite Zombie movies of all time! Part: 1

Here's my top 10 favorite zombie films of all time. This is going to take some time, so lets do 10 through 6 first.

#10 - DAWN OF THE DEAD (2004)

Look out! Running Zombies! Hate them or love them, this was the ONLY thing that made this film any fun to watch. Sarah Polley is good. Ving Rhames makes his dialogue work. The beginning starts out great with Polley's husband being attacked by a savage zombie girl. He dies and comes back in a matter of minutes and attacks Polley who runs for her life. Classic. The opening music by Johnny Cash "The Man Comes Around" is perfect. The images during the titles of the world collapsing is scary stuff. Then they get to the mall and everything goes down hill. The only time it gets interesting is the zombie baby scene. The ended falls flat to. It seems they really didn't have an ending ready when they were filming. If you watch the end credits you see what happens to the group that escaped, but I think it's a cop out. You show us what happens during the end credits? Not Cool! People would sit for another 10 minutes to see what happens. ONE great thing about this film is that it made people interested in zombies again. Paving the way for George Romero to make LAND OF THE DEAD.

#9 - RESIDENT EVIL (2002)

Ok, I know it's a video game movie, but it's a fun video game movie. Paul W.S Anderson is not a great director, but he does keep the film close to the original material. An accident in a secret underground complex, zombies, mutants, zombie dogs, a master computer gone nuts and of course....Milla Jovovich running around shooting stuff is fun. Michelle Rodriguez plays her BEST Michelle Rodriguez ever! Great if you've never seen it. Fun if it's been awhile.

Best Line:

"You're all going to die down here."

#8 - 28 DAYS LATER (2003)

They're not really zombies, but they're REALLY F*cking scary! Danny Boyle takes the zombie concept and puts it into a whole new world. A virus called RAGE is released and everyone who comes in contact with the infected's blood or is bitten becomes a crazed freak in seconds. Cillian Murphy is great as the man who wakes up from a coma to find the world, he knew is gone. Fun chase scenes through the empty streets of London. The ending is a little strange with Murphy becoming a Super commando taking out a group of soldiers. But it's a intensely scary flick that keeps you on your toes.

Best Line:

"Hello?"

#7 - LAND OF THE DEAD (2005)

The Master is back! George A. Romero returns with a bang! Out of all the DEAD films, this sadly is my lest favorite. I guess I wanted to see more of the class separation from the people living on the street and the people living in "Fiddler's Green. But, you get great Romero dialogue and a battle truck called "Dead Reckoning" so you can't go wrong. John Leguizamo is fantastic. Will there be sequel? Don't really know, but Romero said he wouldn't want to do it. Maybe the Dead will speak in the next film? The great master of make up Tom Savini makes a cameo as a zombie biker from Dawn of the Dead. GAK!

Best Line:

"Zombies, they creep me out."

#6 - NIGHT OF THE LIVING (1990)

A really great remake of the original film by George A. Romero. This ones directed by Tom Savini the master make-up artist for the original Dead films. This is a very faithful to the original story. "Who cares." You say,"I'll watch the original." You need to see this versions ending, which is completely new and takes on a stronger message in the end. Race and the dead come together. Patrica Tallman is great as a "fighting back" Barbara. Tony Todd is powerful as Ben.

Best Line:
"They're us. We're them and they're us."

THE WALKING DEAD

Some of you know that I'm a really Big Comic Geek. I've been in love with these monthly periodicals, since I was a small geek. Spiderman, Batman and Superman were and still are some of my favorites. But of late, my taste has shifted to other things. For the last year and a half, I've have been a fan of one particular book, The Walking Dead . It is the creation of Robert Kirkman, writer of Marvel Team-up, Invincible and Battle Poe. The premise is simple. An ongoing black and white series, about a small group of survivors in a world that is overrun with the undead. Kirkman asked the question. What happen to the living people at the end of a zombie movie? Where did they go? Is it safe now? Did they meet other survivors?

A comicbook format is perfect to answer these questions. Kirkman's characters are fantastic. They are flesh and blood people you care about. They're not just fodder for the zombie hordes to pick off one by one, but characters who struggle with themselves, the people around them and of course the undead.

Here's the Publishers Weekly Review For THE WALKING DEAD:

Taking a well-worn genre—flesh-eating zombies overrun the world and the unlucky surviving humans must deal with the gruesome aftermath—and approaching it from a purely character-driven point of view propels this series into the spotlight from out of nowhere. This collection of the first six issues of the ongoing series opens with police officer Rick Grimes awakening from a gunshot-induced coma. From here, he's immediately dragged into a world where dangerous revenants are shambling amok without any sort of an explanation. From the moment Grimes comes to, it's a harrowing battle to avoid hordes of decomposing zombies and a hope-against-all-odds search for his missing family. Grimes makes his way to Atlanta, the nearest large city where there may be other living people, and events take several unexpected turns upon his arrival, as he meets up with a rural encampment of survivors. Of course, as in recent hit movies 28 Days Later... and Dawn of the Dead, the last humans may turn out to be as much a danger as the zombies. Forceful scripting that gives the book a strong grounding in reality, crisp b&w artwork, a shocking final sequence and brisk, gory proceedings elevate this book from the trash heap of pedestrian horror comics.

The art is amazing! Beautiful Black & White work by Tony Moore who worked on the book for the first story arc. Issues #1 through #6. Then Charlie Adlard came in at issue #7 and has been on the book ever since.

Well, enough of my yaking. Give the book a chance. Check out The Walking Dead. You'll love it. If not let me know why.

Hey Everybody! Welcome to GAK NEWS! This blog is for people interested in the making of my web comic "My Living Dead Girl". You'll find out how I put a strip together and see artwork that you wouldn't see on the main site. It's going to be a "Behind-the-scenes" kind of blog. I've also started working on a short "My Living Dead Girl" animated film, called "Eulogy for a Salesman". You'll get updates, as the production moves forward. Also, I'll be writing about films, comics, art and television shows, as time go's on.
